Your not serious that this is justification for our invading Iraq are you?

From the article:"After the events of September 11, 2001, and before the start of the military operation in Iraq, Russian special services several times received information that the official services of the Saddam regime were preparing 'terrorist acts' on the United States and beyond its borders," he told reporters.

"This information was passed on to our American colleagues," he said. He added, however, that Russian intelligence had no proof that Saddam's agents had been involved in any particular attack.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">First, the information in no way connects Iraq to any other organization - A major point that the bushettes are trying their best to repeat enough so that people start to believe it. (A tactic they are particularly fond of as it works on simpler organisms)

Second: If we had received this information then:

    1) Why haven't we heard about it before? Seems that an administration desperate for anything that could bolster thier lies would have trotted this out a long long time ago. 'Course it would fit in with the incompetent argument.

    2) Why did Putin wait until just this particular moment (right after meeting with the "what me worry" twit) to drop this non-bomb.

Something smells rotten in the former soviet union methinks.

Yeah, heaven forbid another country should want to show support for US actions. The only crime in all of this is that President Clinton didn't invade Iraq in 1998 when Saddam Hussein committed a material breach of the agreement that allowed him to remain in power after the Gulf War, ie: his refusal to cooperate with UN weapons inspectors. He gave EVERY indication that he had something to hide and a proven history of his willingness to use it in an aggressive fashion. I guess if President Clinton had invaded you would be silent on the matter Pina. You didn't seem too upset when we sent troops to Kosovo, or invaded Haiti during Clinton's watch. Oh I know, maybe we should have just sent billions of dollars in aid to Saddam so he wouldn't develop WMD. Yeah, that would have worked! Look at North Korea.

I find it weird that Putin publicly proclaims that his country warned ours but he failed to back our move into Iraq. Strange....

Putin's main position is that "other avenues" had not been fully exhausted before the invasion, ie allowing more time for additional weapons inspections. But Hussein gave every indication he was hiding something, otherwise why didn't he cooperate with the inspection teams? (Besides the fact he is an arrogant, murderous sociopath) After 9/11 did President Bush have the luxury of a "wait and see" attitude? I think President Bush has acted in accordance to what he believes is best for us. History will be the final arbiter. What is best for "the rest of the world"? Who cares. I don't.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">And people have the nerve to call Liberals elitist! Seems we hear "fuck 'em they're human garbage" sentiments from those compassionate conservatives on a clockwork like basis.

    "fuck 'em they're human garbage"
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Perfect description of terrorists. But what I mean is the President is elected to represent US interests, not UN interests. Personally I think we spend far too much on other countries and not enough on our own problems. We also meddle on the world stage where I don't think it is always necessary for our interests. With that having been said, I want a president in office who is more concerned about his own country's interests than some internationally minded president who wants to "rise above" nationalism.
